Alright so my recent post was about how I don't think workers are being exploited because there are lots of forms of labor that contribute to the value of a product being created besides simply putting it together, and in this equation I include the labor of creating the business in the first place. All interactions between man and nature that shape nature into products that fill human needs are labor. This doesn't just include physical labor, it includes the planning and scheduling and discovering and managing as well. A commodity's value is determined by the amalgamation of ALL the labor that went into producing it and its component parts, including the labor of providing the electricity to the factory that produced it and the scheduling of the worker's shifts. My counter arguments were things like: If there were no expectation of profiting through ownership, then the businessman wouldn't have had an incentive to create the business/infrastructure/products/innovations in the first place. You're right, in a capitalist society a business is expected to make a profit. In a socialist society means of production and labor are organized to fulfill human needs and no profit is necessary. Even if the owner's labor were done entirely in the past, their ownership and profit today is simply a repayment for past labor. In capitalism you need capital from either extracting surplus value or selling your own labor. The means of production in a socialist society only need labor to be created, not capital. The distribution of capital is a pointless and unnecessary step. I also made comparisons like owning a portion of a business is like owning a TV, the ownership remains in perpetuity. If a TV continues providing value there's no amount of time after which society should say that my ownership over my TV is no longer fair and so they should get to take my TV. TVs are personal property. The abolition of "private property" means the abolition of exclusive ownership of the means of production. Even if a business is made up of people the people aren't property of the business, and their employment agreements are voluntary. I agree, capitalism justifies its exploitation through banal apathy towards workers that capitalists squeeze value out of because they falsely claim that employees are free to do whatever they want. Obviously people would never choose to work in a sweatshop, but capitalists still insist that's the case. The employees are being exploited because profit and ownership are invalid, but ownership is invalid because employees are being exploited. What's being conflated here is a critique of capitalist mode of production with the proposed socialist alternative. LTV is a law of capitalist production, and explains how a capitalist turns a profit if the situation exists that ownership is valid. I'm not fully sure how you got this point or why you think this is the socialist critique of capitalism, so please expand. Under capitalism owners of private property exploit workers. "The employees are being exploited because profit and ownership are invalid" is the opposite of what is true. The employees are being exploited when ownership IS valid. I'm willing to entertain the idea that ownership is different in some way from the labor that is occurring now to run the business. The labor that I performed to earn money to now own my TV occurred entirely in the past, but my ownership over the TV is still valid. If I bought a machine that turned oxygen into gold I don't think anyone would dispute that the gold produced by the machine were my property. A machine that turns oxygen into gold would be considered a means of production, which are themselves commodities (even mines and factories). As an aside, if you had a machine that took zero labor to produce and distribute a product and never wore out your product would have zero value. Air has no value because it takes zero labor, and is also therefore not a commodity. This doesn't prove anything but in general the owner of a business actually works very hard, and the stereotype of a businessman sitting in his fancy chair smoking a cigar while everyone else is scrambling to make him money is largely fiction. According to this source, the majority of small business owners work at least 50 hours a week and some much more, often working weekends, while the average employee works 34 hours a week. The reason this doesn't prove anything is because being rich has little to do with the number of hours worked and everything to do with how productive those hours are, but just to combat the generalization I think it's fair to say that owners typically work very hard. I like to watch the Shark Tank and every episode there's some entrepreneur who makes it on the show and gets in front of the investors and starts pitching their business only to end up in tears as they tell their story about how hard they've worked and how much they've sacrificed just to get to where they are. Often these small business start by people just sewing together some clothes by themselves in their living room and then selling them on the internet, so it is possible to do even if you don't have a lot of money to start with or without "exploiting" anyone until the business gets large enough to justify hiring employees. The intro to the show talks about all the investors, and it always mentions that Robert Herjavec, who is now a multi-millionaire, was raised by an immigrant factory worker. But even if the owner weren't working at all, I can think of an example of someone collecting a portion of the profit who doesn't do any labor for the business whatsoever. Me. I'm not an entrepreneur, I'm a normal guy who works a normal full time job, however I do set some money aside for retirement, and I have a small IRA invested in an S&P 500 index fund. Every so often I look at that IRA transaction history, and I can see a small amount of money coming in the form of a dividend. Which literally means that I own a tiny percentage of a bunch of companies, and so they are compensating me with a tiny portion of the profits. I have no relationship with these companies whatsoever except that someone in the past gave them a bit of money as an investment in exchange for a piece of ownership, and I bought that piece of ownership from the other person. That's it, yet my ownership is considered valid by the market and I'm getting paid for it. Am I participating in the exploitation? It's entirely irrelevant whether capitalist do labor, they're not surrendering their profit if they also decide to do labor. A socialist economy requires this labor too. A lot of what you said there is a string of sentimentalities basically about people "deserving" things. There's no such thing as someone deserving anything, that's just a made up sentimental concept. The socialist argument about exploitation is entirely surrounding who creates things and who keeps what people create. Under capitalism capitalists keep what other people create. Participating in capitalism isn't a choice, it's a necessity. If your primary income is from selling your labor for wages you are a proletarian whose labor has created wealth that has been stolen from you and you'd have far more in your pocket if you kept that rather than having a retirement fund that collects from one of the mechanisms designed to accrue what other workers have created.

The majority of focus was on science fiction. Even my cat was surprised by the sounds and the whole unique view of the world, and my cat never even looks at screen when I watch films. So I am wondering, is it just my biased, delusional thinking? Are there other movies that focus most of their time purely on science fiction aspect and don't use it as a gimmick or background aspect? Just a note because I also got married last year and I did my best to have a budget wedding. Sometimes it's just not going to be possible to have a beautiful wedding like this without spending a lot more money. We don't have any friends who have wedding venues, who are wedding photographers, who are florists, who do rentals, etc. I planned the entire wedding myself and loved it but I had to pay full price for everything unfortunately because that's life. The venue/catering is usually the biggest cost by far (usually the venue has caterers that you have to use) so that by itself was extremely expensive. The only thing I did have was a friend who makes cakes, and I got a huge discount on the cake (but I only saved like 300 on that. We had a lot more guests than Marah had because our parents are very traditional and needed to invite all the people they know, but that was okay because they helped us out with the costs. We skipped the open bar but had wine bottles and champagne flutes at the tables. We're lucky that we found a venue we loved that allowed us to bring our own drinks and desserts, most don't (with the exception of the cake of course. Just keep in mind for people who are hoping for a beautiful wedding but want to spend under 10K, it might not be possible if you don't know somebody that can rent you a venue and furniture for super cheap, unfortunately.

As Wick stumbles through the wet neon streets of Times Square—returning us to a surprisingly involved film world that flows like “The Raid” and looks like a hyper-saturated Instagram feed? —? it’s hard not to think of Reeves’ recent experience on a malfunctioning airplane, and how even that death-defying ordeal was turned into a viral moment (to the actor’s mild chagrin). Reeves once said that Wick was 40% him, but that number seems to have crept up a bit this time around. No movie has ever expressed the fight for anonymity with such viscerally literal force. True to the serialized nature of its title, “A Simple Wedding” starts in media res and ends on a cliffhanger. For an 131-minute film that devotes roughly 110 minutes of its runtime to people shooting each other in the head at close range, it would be almost impossible to follow for someone who isn’t up to speed. Still, the gist of the plot is pretty simple: John Wick kills a lot of people. Like, a lot of people. By the end of “Parabellum, ” he’s basically the leading cause of death in henchmen between the ages of 25 and 50. More of a one-man massacre than ever before (but just raggedy enough to keep things “real”), Mr. Wick fights in a punishingly brutal style that builds on what director Chad Stahelski invented for the character in the previous films. This is a character who appears to know every single language under the sun, but violence is the most expressive part of his vocabulary (Reeves speaks maybe 100 words in the entire movie). Chinese wushu, Japanese judo, Southeast Asian silat, American Glock… Wick is fluent in them all. But while Stahelski and his team have obviously put a great deal of thought into every frame of fisticuffs, “Parabellum” is so relentless that it often devolves into a numbing flurry of shoulder flips and headshots. If “Chapter 2” bordered on high art for how cleverly it weaved tactical shootouts into public locations (and made every fight operate like an organic bit of world-building), “Chapter 3” is more out in the open. A sneaky little skirmish in Grand Central Station doesn’t live up to Stahelski’s creative potential, even if it’s amazing they pulled off the scene at all. Elsewhere, a motorcycle chase along an empty Manhattan bridge is too rushed and blurry to deliver the “Fury Road” ferocity it teases, and the climactic brawl? —? which makes great use of some familiar faces, and hinges on a funny dynamic of mutual respect—is overwhelmed by a set that looks like a high-end watch commercial, and feels like a watered-down retread of the house of mirrors sequence from the end of the previous movie. Driven by a profound respect for the expressive power of beating someone to death, and empowered by their 54-year-old star’s remarkable skill and commitment, Stahelski and the other poets of percussive carnage that work at his 87Eleven Productions are still (a severed) head and shoulders above the rest of Hollywood’s stunt community. But they can do more with this character, even if it means slowing things down and widening them out. To that end, it’s telling that the most exciting brawl in “Parabellum” (with the possible exception of a knife fight in a Chinatown antiques store) maintains a more expansive vision, as Mr. Wick fights alongside Halle Berry and some four-legged sidekicks. Traveling to Casablanca for reasons that are never adequately explained, Mr. Wick meets up with an assassin named Sofia who owns a pair of well-trained Malinois dogs; like every other supporting character in this movie, there’s mixed blood between them, and she owes him something for some reason. There are coins and seals and lots of jibber jabber about High Table manners and then “Game of Thrones” star Jerome Flynn shows up as a Bronn-like business type who’s a bit too greedy for his own good (it’s hard to tell what accent Flynn is doing here, but he’s most definitely doing it). When the bullets fly, Sofia’s very A Simple Wedding lend a valuable assist, and Stahelski has to open things up in order to frame the dogs as they chew on fresh corpses. The sequence is very “John Wick” and horribly terrific in a hand-over-your-mouth kind of way; it does more than any of the tossed-off business with the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburn) or the Continental Hotel owner (Ian McShane) to whet our appetites for another adventure. Anjelica Huston is also somewhat wasted as the matriarch of a Harlem ballet academy with ties to Wick’s past, but her scenes are so immaculately shot that you’re willing to let it slide. In a film that plays fast and loose with NYC geography, all is forgiven by turning 175th street’s United Palace into the “Tarkovsky Theater, ” where people are trained to be killers in between performances of “Swan Lake. ” The film’s world-building works best in small doses. A meeting in the middle of the desert is a total dead end, whereas all sorts of fun details can be inferred from Stahelski’s frequent cutaways to the High Table nerve center, where dozens of tattooed and lip-glossed workers monitor Wick’s bounty with an old-fashioned switchboard (imagine a SuicideGirls reboot of “Mad Men” and you’ll have the right idea). Non-binary “Billions” star Asia Kate Dillon plays a stiff and slinky High Table adjudicator who’s covered in Thierry Mugler coture; part referee and part femme fatale, their performance speaks to an underworld that’s sustained by a mutual respect for all people so long as they don’t shoot the wrong target. While this franchise is starting to feel a bit long in the tooth, such details suggest that screenwriter Derek Kolstad (here sharing credit with three other scribes) can still mine this world for plenty of new life, so long as future installments find a way to deepen the John Wick mythos instead of just stretching it out. With the significant exception of “Mission: Impossible, ” this is easily the best action franchise Hollywood has going these days, and it would be great for it to keep going with renewed focus. The fact that Keanu Reeves is nearing 60 won’t matter to his fans. For one thing, the man is seemingly ageless. For another, retirement no longer seems like a realistic option for a guy who still gets recognized everywhere he goes. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Hollywood star or a $14 million bounty—fame can be a difficult thing to shake. It’s a work-or-die world, and being forgotten is neither on the table nor under it. This song reminds me when I just turned 18, in college and struggling to get a part time job to help me with funding my course. This is almost a fly-on-the-wall style telling of how an ordinary couple discover and come to terms with one of them having cancer. It is told in an intimate but not sentimental way, and is really quite touching. Owen McCafferty's script uses humour, sex, pathos, occasional anger, and a relationship with another couple in a similar (though more terminal) situation to help convey the deep senses of frustration, helplessness and hope as they go through the testing and treatment procedures. Liam Neeson plays his part well; though the script doesn't give him too much to work with. Lesley Manville is superb, though - really very convincing; she elicits sympathy by the bucketful. It doesn't pull it's punches so be prepared for a tough watch at times.

The author seemed to have a very tenuous grasp on English, and on the front page was a long, boring, and incoherent rant that I don't remember or have saved. The site had a strange tagline (which even today people haven't figured out the meaning of), which was: "Normal Porn for Normal People, A Website Dedicated To The Eradication of Abnormal Sexuality" And from the sound of that, I wasn't sure whether I was here to watch porn or if I had stumbled onto some kind of eugenics program. But I was here now, and I was very, very curious to see what "Normal People" get their rocks off to. So I scrolled down through the rant thing. The page didn't seem to link to anywhere else, and I was about to leave when I noticed every word of the rant was its own hyperlink. So I clicked one of them, and was sent to a white page with very long list of links in the form of: "(random letters)" So I stopped for a minute and asked myself if I really wanted to waste God knows how much time clicking random links that will likely give me a virus that will rape my computer. I figured I'd just try it for maybe five minutes, just to see if anything came up. I clicked one of the links, and was sent to another page. This page apparently had totally different urls than the last one. I was just about to say "Fuck this" when I clicked on the third link, and a video download came up. It was called "". It was a thirty-minute video of a man, a woman and a dog in a kitchen. The woman would make a peanut butter sandwich, and the man would set it down for the dog to eat. This was all that happened, for thirty minutes. It was obvious that the cameraman had to stop filming and wait until the dog was ready to eat again, and the dog seemed rather sick by the end of it. I know what you're thinking: "What the hell does that have to do with porn? " I have no clue. I've seen a little over two dozen videos from this site, and the majority had no sexual activity at all. After watching, I went on a certain image board I frequent to play online show and tell, like I always do with weird shit like this. But someone had already made a thread about it, some guy who had received the same chain letter I did. The image board thread got lots of people with nothing better to do to dig through the site, and that's how I saw other videos. Most of those two dozen videos were very uneventful, and consisted of people talking to the cameraman in a room with nothing in it but a desk and a few chairs. I mean literally nothing on the walls, or in terms of furniture. The whole room had a very cold, sterile feel to it. The conversations were just idle banter about previous jobs or embarrassing childhood moments. I kept expecting some kind of discussion about what the people were filming or what the site was about, but of course, nothing. You would never know these videos had anything to do with porn if you saw it out of context. I will say one thing though, the people who appeared in these videos were quite attractive. However, the other videos that actually did feature content which I suppose could be called "sexual" is where things got weird. I'll give brief descriptions of the stranger videos; if you're really eaten up with curiosity you can try to hunt them down on a torrent site. A ten-minute video filmed by a hidden camera in which we see a repairman working on a washing machine for the first two minutes. When it's fixed, the repairman talks to the owner briefly, and then leaves. The owner checks to make sure the repairman is gone, and he begins to lick all over the top of the washing machine. This goes on for seven minutes. A five-minute video of an obese mime performing his act. It was actually pretty funny, particularly one part where he pretends to pull up a chair, then pretends that it breaks because of his weight. In the last thirty seconds of the video, the camera cuts to static briefly and cuts back to the man sobbing quietly, still wearing mime outfit and makeup. Some kind of obscure fetish? Four-minute video in which the camerman talks to a woman in a room different from the "interview room". This room looks like one you'd find in a normal person's house. Exactly where they are is never specified, as Dianna only talks about her violin playing. She obviously plays her violin, but she keeps getting distracted by something. I didn't notice this until someone on the image board thread pointed it out, but if you look at the mirror in the background, you can see a fat man in a chicken mask masturbating. Another four-minute cameraman video. This time he's outside a house, talking to another young woman. They talk about canoe rides. The camera zooms out to reveal the city streets behind them occasionally. The strange thing is: No one so far has been able to identify where this street is. Guesses have ranged everywhere from Europe to Australia to the Philippines, but there's yet to be a match for the street shown in the video. Ten-minute video. The first five minutes consist of an elderly woman making out with a mannequin. The video cuts out like it did in halfway through, and the scene is now a group of mannequins huddled together in a circle around the camera. The lights have been dimmed, and the elderly woman is nowhere to be seen. From this point on, there is no sound. Five-minute-long video where a man with no legs is attempting to breakdance on a DDR mat in what looks like the kitchen from, but much dirtier. There's a radio playing music unseen in the background, but it stops at the four minute mark when the man collapses on the mat in exhaustion. He breathes heavily and pleads with someone off-screen to let him rest. This off-screen person becomes terrifyingly enraged and yells at him to keep dancing, which he does. You can hear this off-screen person begin to scream as the video ends abruptly. The woman from is masturbating on a mattress in the "interview room", while the man from walks around on his hands while wearing some kind of goblin mask. The door in this room was always closed in other videos, but it's now open. In this video the only light is in the room, and the hallway is dark. Near the end of the video, you can see an animal quickly run through the hallway. And finally, the last video we uncovered: In this eighteen-minute video, a blonde woman from one of the previous interview videos is tied down to a mattress in the interview room. She attempts to scream but her mouth is taped over. After seven minutes, a man in a black suit and mask opens the door, but he does not enter. He holds the door open for the animal that was running in the hall in the previous video. It's revealed to be an adult chimpanzee, its hair shaved and its entire body painted red. When the chimp enters the room, the masked man closes the door behind it. The chimpanzee sniffs the air for a moment (it may have been blind), and notices the woman tied to the mattress. It goes into a frenzy, and begins to maul her. The assault goes on for a grueling seven minutes, until the woman finally dies. The chimp eats flesh from her corpse for four minutes as the video ends. The thread exploded with activity after this video was uncovered, and people discussed it long into the night. When I came back to the image board the next day I found that the thread was deleted. I tried to start another one, and they banned me. I tried e-mailing the guy who sent me the chain letter with the site's url, sent him five messages and never got a response. I have tried to discuss this website on various places, and I got banned frequently. The site itself was also deleted about three days after was uncovered, likely because someone contacted the authorities about it. The only proof that ever existed was a few screencaps people took, and videos from the site that people saved and uploaded on torrents. The most popular of which being, which found its way onto a few gore sites. Wherever you upload them to, all of the videos from get deleted after a while.
